What Does an Assessment Involve?

Our assessments are conducted by expert Clinical Psychologists who specialise in neurodivergence. The assessment process focuses on recognising and validating your lived experience and exploring your unique patterns of strengths and differences. The process typically involves:

  • An initial consultation appointment to discuss your experiences and the benefits of exploring a full diagnostic assessment
  • A thorough clinical interview to explore your developmental history, current challenges, and strengths. We will engage in collaborative discussions to understand how your experiences impact your life in different contexts, such as work, relationships, and self-care
  • With your consent and when possible, we will look to consult others who know you well such as family members in order to inform the assessment process
  • Validated screening tools and questionnaires to assess for autism and/or ADHD traits
  • Depending on the type of assessment:
    • If you are being assessed for autism, we will include the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) – a gold-standard, structured assessment to understand social interaction, communication, and behaviour
    • If you are being assessed for ADHD, we will include the QBCheck – a computer-based task that provides objective data on attention, impulsivity, and activity levels
  • A comprehensive feedback session to discuss the outcome of the assessment, share a personalised understanding of your experiences and consider the next steps
  • A thorough and detailed report detailing the information gathered, diagnostic outcome and recommendations for future support.

We aim to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of your experiences, helping you make informed decisions about what supports or accommodations might benefit you moving forward.

Support after your assessment

To help you navigate the path ahead, we also offer an optional additional comprehensive post diagnostic support service, thoughtfully designed to provide the guidance and resources you need for the journey forward. Starting with a forward planning session to identify any ongoing areas of support need, our person centred package can include:

  • Post-diagnostic support to help you embrace and understand how different aspects of your neurodivergence shape your life, and to empower you in navigating them. This can include exploring strengths and challenges in areas like unmasking, sensory processing, and executive functioning.
  • Therapeutic support for mental health difficulties that may be influenced by challenges arising from neurodivergence.
  • Workplace liaison to facilitate conversations with employers to support the creation of a neuro-affirmative workplace, including reasonable workplace adjustments.
  • Equine therapy as a post-diagnostic support option, providing a unique and affirming way to explore self-understanding in a non-judgmental environment.

We also offer a streamlined referral pathway to a partner prescriber for individuals who receive a diagnosis of ADHD and would like to explore options for medication.

Why We Focus on Adults… And Why It Matters

Our practice is built around understanding the unique ways autism and ADHD present in adulthood. We believe that later life diagnosis is just as valid and important as childhood diagnosis, sometimes even more so, given the years of masking, self-doubt, or misdiagnosis many people have faced.

By centring our work on adults and later life diagnosis, we aim to create a space that’s affirming, reflective, and deeply attuned to the diverse ways neurodivergence shows up across the lifespan.

At our clinic, we bring specialist expertise in recognising how neurodivergence can present differently in women. Our team has dedicated experience in identifying the often subtle or masked signs that may go unnoticed in traditional assessments, especially in those who have developed coping strategies over time. We understand that neurodivergent traits in women can be misunderstood or misdiagnosed, and we are committed to providing a supportive, informed, and inclusive approach that truly reflects each individual’s unique experiences.

Celebrating Neurodiversity, Supporting Your Journey

We are proud to offer assessments that celebrate the diversity of the human mind. We believe that understanding neurodivergence is a step toward greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and empowerment. Our goal is to help you feel seen and supported as you navigate life as a neurodivergent individual.

FAQ's

How do I know if I should seek an assessment for Autism or ADHD?

If you’ve been experiencing difficulties with attention, focus, hyperactivity, organisation, or social interactions, or if you’ve always felt "different" but never had an explanation, it may be worth considering an assessment. Many adults seek assessments after noticing long-standing challenges in areas like relationships, work, or daily life that could be related to autism or ADHD. Our phased approach means that you can attend an initial consultation in the first instance, and following this we can discuss whether it would be helpful to pursue a full diagnostic assessment of autism and/or ADHD.
